Adding a Generated Graphic

There are quizzillion sites that offer fun graphics that offer graphics that you can write on and insert into your blog. The idea is that you write what you want on the generator. It downloads a picture to your desktop and you add that picture to your blog.

Here are some of my favourites...

Some great ways to quickly add bling for your blog!

Jig-saw puzzles

To make a jig-saw appear as a photo in your blog go to the website below and browse to a photo from your computer. The puzzle needs to be reduced to about 300 whatevers so it isn't too big for your posting window. I use iPhoto on my Apple so I'm afraid I don't know what a 'whatever' is- I just export to the desktop at the lowest image size and resolution.

Choose your photo to upload then select the size of the pieces you want to show and put the html into your blog post as before.

The site you get gives you a URL web address you can go to complete the jigsaw puzzle on a page of its own.

You can also get the embed code so you can complete the puzzle embedded in your blog.

Copy the embed code into the html part of your blog post.

I also go back and take out the code that adds an advertising message bar at the bottom of the jigsaw just to keep things nice and neat.

Add Voice Commenting with SpeakPipe

SpeakPipe is a little widget you can easily add to your blog so that people can leave oral comments and give short oral feedback.

It is really easy to set up- just click on sign up and follow the path.

Click on the settings

This will take you to the widget settings where I changed the colour to purple so that it would stand out from my blog background.

Then click on Speak Pipe Installation Guide.

Pick your blogging platform.

I chose Blogger cos that's what I am using.

I have more than one Blogger blog so had to select which blog to put it on. You can repeat the process for other blogs.

Click add widget. Save the changes and you're done.

When people click on the widget they will be asked to authorise the use of their microphone and they can record. The message will be sent to the email you registered with.

People click on the widget, allow recording, record their voice and you get an email telling you that you have a new oral comment.

Adding a Webnote

Here is a very cool way to make a quick note on your computer when you can't find a pen and paper.

To make your own webnote click on the link above and look up to the address line. Take out the bling4yrblog bit and add your own combination of letters. Voila- you have your own little web page!

To write something click on the little yellow box on the left hand side and a bigger yellow box will pop up. Double click on it to write in it.

Save your webnote by clicking on the little floppy disk symbol next to the yellow box you clicked on to get started.

Now you can cleverly add a link to your webnote in your links that we delt with here.

Here's how it looks.

Keep an eye on it as yu would an open Google Doc- any one can write any thing.

How to embed a Google Doc into Blogger

Go to your Google Doc. File. Publish to the Web. Embed. Copy the HTML code and then you need to change the html code so it knows how big to make it.

Watch the video to show you were to put it. Then add height=790 width=600 to the html so it looks like the image above.

Embedding a Google Drive Folder

You can embed a Google Drive Folder anywhere in a blog but it sort of makes sense to put it on a page that is more static and accessible.

The usefulness of doing this is that the images or files or whatever you put in the embedded folder can just be swapped or added to for every reference and just keep the embedded folder on the one page- nice and simple.

You are going to want to copy some html code and change it a little. If I write the code directly into this blog post it will embed stuff so I have written the code for you to copy onto a Google Doc that you may like to make a copy of for yourself and do the changing on your own copy.

Here is a direct link to the Google Doc for you to copy.

Angela Lee has made this video to show you the process too.

And here is how the embedded Google Drive Folder would look...
